RESEARCH
Have you ever wanted to see a play but didn’t know where to start?
Or maybe you’ve thought, “What if it’s boring?” or “Is it worth the money?”
Turns out, you’re not alone. Many people love the idea of going to the theatre but end up not going at all because:

“It is like a lottery. I’m not sure that would be a good show, but I go.
If it was a good show, I’m extremely happy. However, there’s no way to get it and assume that will happen.”
- a participant after watching the performance <Laundry>.
01. Stepping Into the Audience’s Shoes
As someone who used to perform on stage, I always wondered: Why do movies attract huge audiences while theatre feels like a niche?
To find out, I did some research.
I invited acting students and their non-theatre friends to a play. We watched together, and then…
I interviewed them!
“The musical I saw today was amazing, but I didn’t know the theatre look like this. My mom probably didn’t feel comfortable with this chair. It was hard to find proper reviews for plays.”
“I love going to the theatre to see plays. As everyone knows going to the theatre is not cheap, so I need to save my money for the chance that I can pay for the tickets.”
“I don’t know about any play or musical. My friend brought here. I think it is a thing only for specific communities.
The biggest reason that I gave up to go to the theatre is lack of knowledge. I would go only if my best friends recommend it or go with me.”

- Students who participated in an interview after watching the performance <Hamlet>.
Why Is It Hard to Choose a Play?
🎭 What I learned:
1️⃣ People want honest reviews but don’t know where to find them.
2️⃣ Theatre feels expensive, making people hesitate.
3️⃣ Those outside the theatre world don’t know where to begin.
4️⃣ Most people go only if a trusted friend invites them.
IDEATION
02. Watching a Play Shouldn’t Feel Like a Gamble
With Mydayplay, I wanted to make theatre more welcoming by providing accessible information, real reactions, and social trust.
So people don’t need to “get lucky” to have a good experience.

PROCESS
03. Building for Curiosity and Confidence
1. Smarter Play Recommendations
❓ The problem: So many options, but no idea what to watch.
💡 The solution: A smart recommendation system that helps people find plays based on what they actually like.
Imagine if choosing a play was as easy as picking a Netflix show!
2. Making Theater More Affordable
❓ The problem: Ticket prices are a major barrier.
💡 The solution: Get discounted tickets by partnering with theatres.
Let users become influencers and get free or sponsored tickets.
Reward people for blogging and reviewing performances.
Now, going to the theatre doesn’t have to break the bank!
3. Creating a Community
❓ The problem: Theater can feel like a closed-off world.
💡 The solution: A community where people share experiences, recommend plays, and connect with like-minded theatre lovers.
Think of it as a virtual theatre club - where people chat, exchange ideas, and help each other discover amazing performances.
